Cricket helmet has become one of the mandatory equipment for cricketers. Nowadays, they are being used in each type of cricket matches in order to defend players from speedy throws and irregular batted balls. Even though, security was a small concern for early cricketers, but catchers or fielders are started using protective gears.

Protection VS Comfy
The major concern of this safety gear was that it would slow down the speed and controls movement. Players started searching a balance between safety and premium comfort, and as time passes manufacturers started designing various safety gears such as chest protectors, arm guard and thigh guard in order to go well with the necessitates of the players.
Previously, players used to consider helmets as playful gear as it was created with leather and mostly overlooked. Various injuries have taken place and death of champ players brings change among other players and cricket helmets became an essential part of their uniform.
Augmented design of safety Equipment
For amateur persons, cricket helmets were observed as a costly and playful accessory. In addition to that immature players habitually followed the direct of their professional heroes and they were hesitant to select safety measures.
Making flexible bands and chin guards permitted associate teams to save money on various equipments along with helmets that fit with different head sizes and provide safety to amateur as well as professional players. The thin but solid stuffing is attached to the durable plastic shield. Flexible plastic straps joined to the shield and can be adjusted to fit on the skull comfortably.
Development of this protective gear
In the beginning, helmets design was in such a way that they used to protect only the top of the head or the part above the eyebrows. Ear flickers were developed soon in order to protect both sides of the head and a little part of the face.
Lack of enthusiasm in players towards such helmets continued to be a fear, as most of the cricketers felt that the ear flaps are shrinking their vision. However, they became compulsory for all new cricketers, and in the year 1983 attached flaps became compulsory to wear for everybody who is entering in the match.

Closing up
The expressed intention of helmets is to reduce the amount of injuries that can take place in any type of cricket match whether is big or small. They are somewhat lightweight and increasingly comfortable. They are continued to offer safety in all kind of situations during the match.
Soft and lightweight stuffing makes them more safe & comfortable without forgoing protection. Even though cricket helmet cannot stops injury entirely and several players will persist to be hesitant to forgo comfort and vision for protection. However, numerous head & face injuries have been barred by helmet equipment.
